WORKS OF ART.—Dr. Herschel’s Grand Telescope. The tube of this instrument is thirty-nine feet four inches long, and four feet and ten inches in diameter, every part being made of iron. It was begun in 1785 and completed in 1789. It magnifies six thousand times.
