George W. Benson was one of the endorsors of the Canterbury Female Academy, and most famous as the co-founder of the Northampton Association. He was a brother-in-law of William Lloyd Garrison.

George Benson (1808-1879) from daguerreotype taken about 1845. He is best-known for his role in establishing the inter-racial Northampton Association (1842-1846).
